The Malta Labour Party said a number of Floriana and Valletta residents have expressed disapproval at how the Park and Ride scheme has been proposed.

Residents attending a meeting with Labour leader Alfred Sant and the party's spokesman on transport Charles Buhagiar said elderly persons living in Valletta and Floriana were complaining that their relatives would have to start paying to park their cars to visit them.

The same applied to those who have to call at Boffa Hospital, the Health Centre in Floriana and the Home for the Elderly in Floriana, among other places.

Residents pointed out that instead of easing the problem of parking in Floriana, things will get worse because many of those who today park their car in Valletta would start parking in Floriana where the parking fees would be cheaper.
