Thieves rush out of house as owner arrives

A man who was about to go into his house in Main Street, Tarxien got a nasty surprise yesterday when he came face to face with two hooded thieves who were rushing out of the residence with their haul, the police said.

Once outside, the thieves stopped a driver and hijacked his car to make their getaway.

The police are holding a person to help them in their investigations.

No one was injured in the robbery.

Magistrate Lawrence Quintano opened an inquiry.

Asked for more information about this incident such as what the haul consisted of, whether the thieves were armed and if the stolen car was traced, the media office at the police headquarters in Floriana said it could not give any other details.
