With one-third of the current campaign completed for most of the Premier League clubs, the total number of goals netted up to last Sunday is 291.
The ball hitting the back of the net is what the fan enjoys most during a match, even if on a good number of occasions a 0-0 draw also produced drama and nail-biting stuff.
From the inauguration of the FA Premiership in 1992-93 to last week, a total of 13,879 goals have been scored.
On December 15, 2001 Les Ferdinand, of Tottenham Hotspur, celebrated the 10,000th goal in the Premiership. It was the opening goal in a 4-0 win over London neighbours Fulham at White Hart Lane.
Yet, it had all started on August 15, 1992 when another striker, Brian Deane (released by Sunderland last August at the age of 37), netted the very first goal in Sheffield United's 2-1 victory over Manchester United at Bramall Lane.
The question now is... who will celebrate the 14,000th goal this season?
