A 56-year-old man from St Paul's Bay is helping the police in their investigations into the stabbing of a 43-year-old woman.
The man gave himself up to the police at the Birkirkara police station and informed them about the incident involving his wife.
The woman was admitted to hospital suffering from knife wounds to her face, her shoulder and her hand. Her condition, however, was not life threatening.
Sources said the man told the police he did not want to kill her as had he wanted to do so he could have stabbed his wife in the abdomen.
The stabbing apparently followed an argument at the couple's home in St Paul's Bay.
Police Inspector Paul Bond is investigating.
Duty Magistrate Lawrence Quintano appointed clinical forensic physician Mario Scerri and architect Richard Aquilina to assist in the inquiry.
