A Birkirkara man has been given a one-year jail term suspended for three years after he admitted to running over a woman and seriously injuring her.

Magistrate Saviour Demicoli heard Francis Schembri, 67, plead guilty to injuring Adelina Borg when he recklessly drove a car in her direction.

The magistrate noted that Mr Schembri had filed an early guilty plea and had cooperated with the police. He was banned from driving for three months.

Police Inspector Victor Aquilina prosecuted.
