The liturgical feast of St Catherine of Alexandria is being celebrated at Zurrieq on Friday. The three days of the triduum between tomorrow and Wednesday will be marked with a special Mass at 6 p.m., dedicated respectively to all those named Catherine, to members of the clergy, seminarians and members of religious orders, and to members of the sub-committees of the saint's 1,700th centenary festivities.

On Thursday, eve of the feast, at 5.30 p.m. the relic will be solemnly translated from St Bartholomew's chapel to St Catherine's parish church. Vespers will be followed by Mass. At 7.30 p.m. a demonstration with the statue of St Catherine by Vincenzo Cremona will be held, followed by band marches.

On Friday at 8.30 a.m. the St Catherine Band will accompany Mgr Anton Vella, archpriest of the Cathedral at Mdina, to the parish church, where he will lead a solemn concelebrated Mass at 9.30 and deliver the panegyric.

Vespers at 5.30 p.m. will be followed by Mass. At 6.45, a pilgrimage with the statue of St Catherine will be held. At 7.30, reposition of the relic, Eucharistic celebration and the centenary hymn will bring the indoor festivities to an end. St Catherine's Band will play marches at 8 p.m.
