Some 1,300 young people attended Friday's Meeteen as part of this year's celebrations of Christ the King.

The feast of Christ the King will be celebrated at the Holy Trinity parish in Marsa today at 4 p.m.

Friday's celebration was organised by the Diocesan Youth Commission in collaboration with the parishes and youth groups from St Venera, Marsa, Guardamangia and Hamrun.

The young people present spent time in prayer, song and workshops in the new parish church of St Venera, which was filled to capacity.

The young people were afterwards treated to a street party in St Joseph's High Road.

To explain the theme of this year's celebrations, 'Together with our Lord Jesus we move forward with courage', Fr Savio Vella, SDB, the Archbishop's delegate for youth, encouraged the young people present not to be afraid to express their youthful experience of faith, but to be ready courageously to be witnesses of the joy that Christ brings to one's life.
