Melita, GFA sign three-year sponsorship agreement

For the coming three seasons, Melita Cable will be the official sponsor of the Gozo Football Association's league and the GFA player of the month award.

This agreement was signed on Wednesday at the Westin Dragonara Resort by Joe Cordina, GFA president, and Franco Degabriele, Head of Sales and Marketing at Melita Cable in the presence of GFA secretary Alvin Grech.

Degabriele expressed his satisfaction at the successful conclusion of this agreement with the GFA.

"We are pleased that Melita will now be associated with football in Gozo," he said. "We acknowledge that football is widely followed in Gozo and that there is a lot of talent in the sister island that deserves support and encouragement."

Degabriele said he hoped funds will help to improve the standards of the game, and that more attention is given to youth football.

Dedication

"As an ex-player of Xaghra and Victoria Hotspurs, I have experienced the enthusiasm and dedication of Gozitan clubs," Degabriele added.

"I'm sure that through this agreement the association will continue to put up a compelling league to the fans."

Melita Digital and/or Onvol subscribers will get a 20 per cent discount on tickets for GFA matches at the Gozo Stadium.

Cordina said that from now the Gozo Premier League will be called ONVOL Premier League. He also gave details about the Player of the Month award.

He voiced his satisfaction at the signing of this agreement that will see Melita backing the most popular sport in Gozo.

"We are extremely satisfied that Melita is associating itself with the GFA and we are confident that this new collaboration will be beneficial to both parties," Cordina said.

"We promise our continued support to our sponsors to ensure that Gozo teams are given the required support to raise their standards."
