Documentaries on important monuments

Horizons has just launched its second volume in the Ulied Maltin series, the interactive encyclopedia in Maltese.

The second volume, which also comes in DVD format and an accompanying booklet, looks at 19 monuments in Malta, such as the Great Siege memorial, the monument dedicated to Dun Mikiel Scerri and the Neptune fountain at the Valletta bus terminus. The documentaries are each four minutes long, which can be followed through the text of the booklet.

This follows the success of the first DVD on Maltese personalities including Anton Buttigieg, Guzeppi Calì, Antonio Sciortino and Dun Gorg Preca, launched earlier this year.

Studies in the US have shown that visuals have a strong impact on children. The Ulied Maltin DVD is therefore an asset to students seeking information on Malta and the Maltese who have made history and is an aide for projects. The DVD also allows users to make use of the text and images if it is viewed on a computer.
