Two thieves yesterday stole about Lm1,500 from a shopkeeper in St Paul's Bay after threatening him with a knife.

The theft took place around midday.

Although the crime was committed in a similar fashion to the one on a lotto receiver at Luqa on Tuesday, the police suspect that different people were involved. Foreigners may have been involved in the Luqa theft, sources said.

A hooded thief armed with a knife held up a woman lotto receiver in her 20s and stole some Lm300 on Tuesday. The thief escaped in a car driven by an accomplice.
