England coach Andy Robinson has ruled out a return to international action for Jonny Wilkinson despite an injury doubt over flyhalf Charlie Hodgson for Saturday's game against New Zealand.

Robinson yesterday postponed announcing his team for the Twickenham test to give medical staff more time to assess the fitness of Hodgson, who left the pitch midway through the second half of Saturday's 26-16 win over Australia.

Robinson said he expected Hodgson to recover but was happy to have Olly Barkley, his replacement against the Wallabies, on standby.

Asked if he was considering calling up Wilkinson, who last played for England in the 2003 World Cup final, he replied with a simple "no".

"We will be looking to potentially keep the same side together but we've just got to look at the injuries and the combinations," Robinson said.

"We've reviewed what we did at the weekend and this is a different challenge we're facing and it's important that we get a team out that can match the challenge of the All Blacks and try and dominate them."
