Mr matthew tabone of Mdina (The Sunday Times, October 30) was right to dissociate himself from me because unlike him I never tried to smear people, especially people I do not even know, and distort their opinion.

My correspondence was based on facts and not emotional thinking. Like it or not, illegal immigration en masse is not sustainable for Malta or for the EU. The sooner Europe realises this and starts to tackle this huge problem, the better for everyone.

Time will tell who is right.
