Commission on top-up cards

I would like to congratulate the GRTU on its latest stand asking the Office of Fair Competition to investigate the alleged anti-competitive adjustments in the commission offered to resellers of top-up cards. In a truly competitive environment any decrease in the resellers' revenues through the sale of the top-up cards should have at least been partly reflected in a reduction in the price consumers pay.

This has not occurred and therefore the fact that both mobile service providers have decided to take the same action at the same time at the resellers' cost shows that there might be a serious abuse of their dominant positions and consolidated bargaining power.

Therefore the decision that Go Mobile and Vodafone have taken needs to be seriously investigated by the competent authorities. Consumers too deserve an answer.
