November weather is ideal for a stroll in the countryside or a picnic but, for those who love a challenge, here is a chance to inject their Sunday with a dose of adrenaline.
The team of volunteers from the Kilimanjaro Challenge 2 are organising Adrenaline Sunday, this Sunday, where the public will be able to join the challenge and get a taste of adventure by trying out abseiling and aerial ropeway.
The day starts at 8 a.m. and will go on till late at Migra l-Ferha in Imtahleb, limits of Rabat. The price is Lm2.50.
This is one of the fund raising activities organised by the KC2 team who are aiming to raise Lm38,000 for the construction of a convent in the Ethiopian village of Bulbula.
Last year the Kilimanjaro Challenge team climbed Africa's Mount Kilimanjaro and successfully raised Lm38,000 to build a school in Bulbula.
This year, in December, the KC2 team will attempt the climb again to raise money to construct a convent for the nuns who will be running the school.
But before taking on the 6,000-metre-high Mount Kilimanjaro the team have to get themselves fit for the climb. They have been training since May, both individually and in a group. Last month the dedicated volunteers put their stamina to the test when they got to the peak of Sicily's Etna and also spent a weekend trekking round Gozo.
Although the KC2 team play a vital part in reaching the double goal - of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and raising the funds - the public too has a major role in the challenge.
Last Friday, the public showed its solidarity by attending the Gala Dinner held at the Coastline Hotel - one of the fund raising events organised by KC2.
The challenge is one of the projects falling under the patronage of Reaching Out, a charitable group that raises funds for various humanitarian projects in Third World countries. Sponsors include Alberta, Energy Mix... Quaker, Nivea, Attard Brothers and Onvol.
Anyone who wants to join in Sunday's event can call Greg Attard on 9945 6949 or send an e-mail to gregatta@gmail.com or info@kilichallenge2.com. For more information on the challenge visit www.kilichallenge2.com.
The public can contribute to this cause by sending an SMS on 5061 8076 to donate Lm2, on 5061 8927 to donate Lm3, and on 5061 9203 for Lm5.
Donations can also be made at Bank of Valletta account number 40014418635, HSBC account 061020731050 and at the APS account 200003165100.
