If we take one species, in particular the pit bull, and compare it to a drug like marijuana then according to our current dangerous dog laws it would be illegal to import the drug but growing it would be as illegal as growing lettuce! Yep... pit bulls...

If we take one species, in particular the pit bull, and compare it to a drug like marijuana then according to our current dangerous dog laws it would be illegal to import the drug but growing it would be as illegal as growing lettuce!

Yep... pit bulls are not illegal to breed yet their importation is strictly prohibited. While cross-border control can never be 100 per cent guaranteed, that which finds itself on the island and advertised publicly surely is not out of the authorities' reach!

What use is there in prohibiting their importation when once they're in we give them free rein? Do they become less of a threat to people and other dogs once they're in Malta?

Will it take a child being mauled for our legislators to amend the illogical laws?
