The Institute of Health and Safety is organising another Occupational Health and Safety course on Monday, November 28, between 8.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m., at its premises at Martin Court, University Street, Msida.

The course aims to help participants develop an undertanding of factors which contribute to health and safety issues and their management in the occupational environment. It will be a four-hour course held in one session.

Course contents will include an overview of health and safety, the role of the Occupational Health and Safety Authority, current law, health and safety accidents - costs and benefits, accidents investigation and reporting, and health hazards - safe or healthy workplace?

Mr Anthony Xuereb, in charge of health, safety and welfare at Enemalta Corporation, will deliver the course.

The Institute in conjunction with the Royal Society for the Promotion of Health, is also organising a course in Risk Assessment. Its aim is to introduce savings in time spent on supplier audits, increasing efficiency and improving the working environment, enabling the participants to carry out a risk assessment for their workplace across the full range of health and safety concerns. Most importantly, such an assessment will contribute towards a safer working environment.

It is a nine-hour course spread over three days, which will be conducted by Dr Mario Spiteri, Dip. Ph, MA (Ed), Ph.D, FRSH, MHCIMA, MIOSH, a health promotion specialist.
