David Trezeguet played down his achievement after two goals in a 2-1 win over Champions League rivals Bayern Munich made him one of the top 10 most prolific strikers to play for Juventus.
His brace against Bayern on Wednesday lifted him to 10th with 106 goals in 177 matches for the Italian champions, one place above 1950s great John Charles of Wales.
Trezeguet is also the third most prolific foreign striker to play for the Serie A side after Argentine Omar Sivori on 165 and Denmark's John Hansen on 124.
"This squad has always known how to create scoring chances. I just try to do my job by being ready in the area," the 28-year-old striker was quoted as saying.
After Wednesday's match, Juventus coach Fabio Capello spoke warmly in praise of Trezeguet, labelling him "the best there is".
Capello said: "We all know what he's capable of. If you leave him free just for a moment he punishes you.
Inside the area he is without equal. He moves easily, like a fish in water and he has got extraordinary finishing ability. He reminds me of Paolo Rossi."
Trezeguet joined Juventus from French side Monaco at the start of the 2000-2001 season.
Injuries have sometimes limited him to the sidelines, notably last season when he was available for less than half of Juventus's Serie A campaign.
Whenever he is fit, however, Trezeguet has always proved himself to be deadly in front of goal. He finished top scorer in Serie A during the 2001-02 season with 24 goals in 34 games. He also possesses an excellent strike rate with the French national team of 31 goals in 59 matches.
He has made a flying start to the season, racking up six goals in eight Serie A fixtures plus four in the Champions League.
Last month he surpassed the mark set by fellow Frenchman Michel Platini, who scored 104 goals for the club between 1982 and 1987.
Trezeguet also has a knack of scoring important and, occasionally, championship-deciding goals, most notably when he struck the golden goal that gave France victory over Italy in the final of Euro 2000.
Last season he grabbed the winner in a crucial 1-0 win over Serie A rivals Milan late in the season.
The two teams had been level on points. The victory set up Juventus to win their 28th scudetto.
