A number of fun runs for charity will be organised by Caritas Malta in Zurrieq in collaboration with the Zurrieq Wolves Athletics Club on Sunday.

The runs range from a "toddler dash" for under six-year-olds, runs for seven to 10-year-olds and 11 to 13-year-olds and a five-kilometre run for those over 14.

The eighth edition of the Zurrieq International Half Marathon will be held on the same day.

World Run Day was founded in 1999 by businessman and passionate marathon runner Bill McDermott in the United States, who aimed to have runners from all over the world do their bit for charity on one day of the year.

Organisations, associations, companies and schools are being invited to take part in the fun runs. A computer will be awarded to the school or organisation which raises the most funds.

Last year Mosta primary school B was awarded the prize after raising Lm1,000.

Further information or applications can be acquired from Caritas Malta's Promotion Unit on 2590 6600 or at www.halfmarathon.org.

Registrations will accepted before the runs on Sunday at 8.15 a.m. at the Zurrieq square.
