Impact of surcharge

I feel very upset about the latest rise in the water and electricity surcharge and the increase in petrol prices.

I have a shop in Hamrun for which I already have to pay a high rent. Air-conditioning has to run throughout the year and lighting is needed too. Therefore I need electricity. And now the costs will explode again.

The 55 per cent surcharge is a massive increase. I will need to increase my prices too. But then people will buy less, also because they have to pay for the surcharge and are left with less money in their pockets.

As a consequence I might end up having to close my shop forever. Then I will have to report unemployed. Is this what our government wants?

Do our leaders want to kill jobs and increase the unemployment rate? I really feel very upset!
