MOSTA MAYOR Joseph Demartino (The Sunday Times, October 16) reveals that the council received 10 nominations for this year's Gieh il-Mosta award but does not say who the nominees were and who nominated them. Perhaps it is not in the public interest.

I heard - and even read - that the nomination of Dr Paul Chetcuti Caruana was turned down by the Nationalists councillors.

While I congratulate the council for the unanimous vote for St Mary Band Club, I am also curious to know why the award to the Immaculate Conception Oratory was turned down by the Labour councillors.
