The National Student Travel Foundation (Malta) is again organising a school contest for young scientists for students aged 11 to 14.

The idea is for students to discover the science of the world around them through research and experimentation in any scientific field. Such an initiative enables students to increase their interest in subjects which are often seen as being beyond them.

Maltese students have much to offer and proof of this is the high level of the research projects produced over the past years. The projects are eligible to be exhibited at the NSTF Science Week at St James Cavalier in March where judges will choose the winning projects.

Application forms, available from heads of schools or by logging onto www.nsts.org/nstf, should be sent to NSTF, 220, St Paul Street, Valletta, or e-mail: iflor@nsts.org by November 15. The project write-up is to be handed in by February 15, 2006.
