The tendering process for the provision of catering services at Mater Dei Hospital has already started. The tender will also incorporate catering at St Luke's and Boffa hospitals, Health Minister Louis Deguara said.

Replying to a parliamentary question by Nationalist MP Jason Azzopardi the minister said that Zammit Clapp Hospital had been utilising its own caterers since it opened in 1991.

He said that there was currently no plan to privatise catering at Mount Carmel Hospital.
