The strengthening of bilateral relations between Malta and Egypt, particularly at parliamentary level, was the main subject of talks held yesterday between Speaker Anton Tabone and Egyptian Ambassador Adbelkarim Mahmoud Soliman.

Mr Tabone informed the ambassador of his recent meeting with Fathi Sorour, president of the Egyptian People's Assembly, on the occasion of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly in Geneva.

He spoke about Malta's initiative to establish the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean and the country's bid to host its Secretariat in Malta.

The Egyptian ambassador confirmed Egypt's support for Malta's initiative and its bid to host the secretariat in Malta.
