With reference to Mr Joe Cilia's letter (The Sunday Times, October 16) I should also like to congratulate all the Maltese dancers and teachers who took part and supported the 10th Malta DanceSport Championships.
However, it was stated that Christopher Zammit was the only Maltese iudge with an International Dance Sport Federation (IDSF) adjudicators licence. I also hold an IDSF adjudicator's licence and am a Maltese citizen.
However I am registered through England, as after being denied a licence from the Malta DanceSport Association (MDA) for seven years, I finally took advice and applied through my country of birth where I am still registered as a professional teacher and adjudicator.
It is extremely sad that as a Maltese, I cannot represent my adopted country and dancers, whom I love and am proud of. As one of the most experienced judges, coaches and teachers in Malta for ballroom and Latin American dancing, I regularly adjudicate (I hold a Professional World Dance and DanceSport Council adjudicator's licence), teach and lecture abroad.
In the coming year I will be lecturing or adjudicating in various countries; what a pity it cannot be for Malta.
