The aspiration of a Gozitan businessman to portray the beauty and unique charm of the island through "the subtle seduction of its women" has taken fruition in the form of a calendar.

The Jubilee Calendar 2006 features tasteful black and white photos of some of Gozo's most beautiful girls set in various locations around the island.

Café Jubilee director Alex Scicluna unveiled the calendar during a press launch at the Valletta outlet.

The photo shoot, which took place in July, utilised the talents of an internationally acclaimed team - photographer Alice Hawkins, stylist Sam Willoughby and make-up artist Gemma Smith-Edhouse.

These three industry experts, who flew to Malta specifically for the shoot, have worked with big names such as Vogue, Pop, Bon and Arena. The models were chosen following a careful selection process by the photographer and Mr Scicluna.

"The idea for a calendar first came to me when a close friend who was visiting Gozo created a small scale calendar using photography that he took while on holiday. I thought it would be a fantastic idea to help push the Jubilee brand further by creating our own calendar," Mr Scicluna explained.

As Jubilee plans to open its new café in Gzira next month, Mr Scicluna together with his brothers see this calendar as a way of adding complimentary products to the brand. A Jubilee recipe book is also in the pipeline.

The calendar is available from all Jubilee outlets and soon from leading stationers and newsagents around the islands.
