Two butchers were yesterday charged with stealing over Lm1,000 worth of meat earlier this month.

Joseph Falzon, 57 of Attard and Anthony Falzon, 61 of Dingli, pleaded not guilty to stealing several types of meat to the detriment of Cassar and Schembri Marketing Limited on October 3 and 4.

The men were granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm1,000 each by Magistrate Giovanni Grixti.

Police Inspector Carmelo Bartolo prosecuted.

Lawyer Ian Farrugia appeared for the defendants.
