Sannat Lions trounced Ghajnsielem to maintain their perfect start to the season after three matches. This was the champions' second consecutive defeat, a result that left them with one point.

With Mark Camilleri, formerly of Xewkija, making his debut, the Lions shot into the lead after 19 minutes. Camilleri unmarked Ricardo Saverino in the box and the latter placed a low shot behind Grech.

Ghajnsielem had a free-kick by Concalves that ended just high but Sannat doubled the score one minute from half-time with another Saverino goal.

The Blacks looked better after the break but failed to find the Lions' net. Sannat practically made sure of victory midway through the half with two quick goals scored by Camilleri and Saverino.

The score became 5-0 in the 76th minute with a goal by Reuben Mercieca following a solo action. Mark Muscat made it 6-0 soon after when he scored from a rebound after Grech failed to stop a header by Noel Borg.

Xaghra United 2
Kercem Ajax 1

Xaghra United recovered from two consecutive defeats to win their first points and inflict the first defeat on Kercem Ajax. The latter were again weakened by the absence of two key players, Elton Vella and Mario Azzopardi.

Xaghra paraded Silvan Galea (ex-Zebbug Rovers) for the first time. He had a positive outing and also scored the opening goal for the winners. It was in the 28th minute when Galea hit home from close range after a fast Ndayi break.

Kercem soon regained composure to level the scores just before half-time through Joseph Grech.

On resumption, Kercem goalkeeper Aktpan made the best save of the afternoon when stopping an overhead kick by Galea. Right on the hour, a free-kick by Mbueko was headed home by Josef Galea after Aktpan failed to hold his first attempt.

The Ajax were shocked and Xaghra could have increased their lead but fluffed a couple of clear chances.

Kercem ended the match on a negative note as they had Jason Portelli sent off for a foul on Josef Galea.

Xaghra: D. Gauci, A. Debono (S.F. Bajada), S. Sultana, D. Mbueko, J. Sultana, J. Attard, J. Bartolo, J. Galea, K. Ndayi, D. Attard, S. Galea.
