Hunting seems to be ingraining itself ever more strongly in the local culture and tradition.
Hunters accept that marksmanship is a sport, recognised internationally. Hunting in all its forms is just killing. For those who might enjoy a meal of something they have just killed, why not raise rabbits, chickens or breed the birds of their choice?
I suspect hunters who have made a number of organisms extinct or endangered could not care less. It comes down to "nobody can tell me what to do"; the animals are there for the taking. Another factor is greed - the money they can make for stuffed and mounted birds.
I accept that most hunters are responsible and they have some basic need which I don't, so I hope they only take what they need and use it wisely and enjoy it.
Hunters who break the law should not only be fined to the hilt but they should be prohibited from owning guns and put under house arrest, or jailed, if they choose to disregard the rules during the bird migration seasons.
