Malta will be hosting the 2007 EAA Calendar Conference.

This was announced last week during an Extraordinary Congress of the European Athletics Association which was held in Reykjavik, Iceland.

The meeting, attended by MAAA president Anthony Chircop, discussed various interesting subjects, among which a number of important measures to revamp athletics on the continent and launch new initiatives.

The Calendar Conference normally attracts around 400 delegates from Europe.

During this meeting the programme for the season to follow will be discussed.

The choice of Malta came in the face of stiff opposition, particularly from the Polish federation.

Informed sources told The Times that the Calendar Conference in Malta is likely to be held at a prominent hotel in Bugibba between October 11 and 14, 2007.
