The government, through the Civil Protection Department, is responding to a call by Pakistan to help victims of Saturday's earthquake.

For this purpose the CPD has reactivated its accounts for humanitarian aid with the Bank of Valletta and HSBC to accept financial donations.

Money collected until Sunday will be forwarded to the Red Cross Society to be eventually distributed to victims of the 'quake.

An appeal for blankets and food will be made shortly.

The CPD said it will not accept cash donations except those placed in the BOV and HSBC accounts.

It also stressed it has no links with any association or individuals who are making collections for the same purpose.
