I would like to enlighten readers about the item on the Msida one way system (October 6). I would like to point out at the outset that:

1. Most of the people who signed the petition mentioned in the article do not live in Msida. However, Msida local council will not ignore their comments.

2. It is extremely easy to get to Msida Circus from Rue D'Argens. One way of doing so is by turning left, enter St Anthony Street, up School Street and one gets right to Msida Circus.

3. My council has put up adequate signage all around.

4. By making Tower Gate Street one way, we eliminated a lot of traffic congestion and facilitated going to Gzira by driving down said street and right into Gzira. There is nothing nerve-wrecking in this.

5. Msida local council denies it did not consult the public and/or relevant bodies. We consulted the public at a meeting at Msida Primary School, where a representative of the GRTU was in attendance, and took various suggestions and complaints into consideration prior to implementing the system.

6. Msida local council has received various favourable comments from the residents with regard to the system implemented.

We are in the process of again consulting the people and are to set up a meeting with ADT to iron out any teething problems which might have arisen from the implementation of said system.

The council feels it was doing the right thing in implementing the system as it has Msida residents' interests at heart. The new system has made entry to school by our children much safer.

I refrain from replying to disparaging remarks made in my regard.
