Many model aircraft enthusiasts spent the day at Hal Far yesterday for the annual open day of the Hal Far Model Flying Association.

Association public relations officer Jesmond Bajada estimated that about 1,000 people turned up.

Association members gave non-stop model aeroplane and helicopter flying displays and a static display of model aircraft and helicopters.

A novelty was the simulation of a World War II air attack using model aircraft.

A display was also given by a Bell 212 of the Italian Military Mission.

UK visitor John Blake also gave a demonstration of his model fixed wing aircraft and helicopters.
