THE FEDERATION of Hunters and Conservationists (FENK) were locked in a meeting yesterday with Environment Minister George Pullicino about recent proposed amendments to hunting regulations.

The two-hour meeting also focussed on the derogation from the EU hunting directive 79/409/EEC, which Malta needs to apply to allow hunting in the Spring.

The federation said the minister stressed that the government was determined to continue to apply this derogation, while the federation's officials renewed their offer to give any technical assistance required in line with this derogation.

The federation's delegation was headed by their president Joseph Buttigieg.

More meetings will be held in the future.
