Reference is made to the letter by Mr Constantine Mallia titled 'Customs advert' (The Sunday Times, September 25).

On investigating the facts as described by your correspondent, it resulted that it was an administrative error on the department's part.

While apologising for any inconvenience caused, please be informed that the department had acted immediately and suspended the notice of the auction sale and the procedure will start afresh.
