A 46-year-old Zebbug man was yesterday charged with assaulting and injuring a newlywed couple following a traffic accident earlier this month.

Charles Dimech, of Zebbug, pleaded not guilty to threatening, assaulting and injuring Jonathan and Melissa Farrugia, damaging their car and the illegal possession of a knife in Zebbug on September 12.

Mr Dimech was granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm1,000.

Magistrate Joseph Cassar presided over the case.

Police Inspector Jesmond J. Borg prosecuted.

Dr George Cutajar appeared for Mr Dimech.
