Malta champion Alex Borg was eliminated from the Grand Prix tournament after a 5-1 defeat to Gerard Greene in Wales yesterday.

Borg was playing his first match in the season's Main Tour qualifiers, involving the world's top 96 players, after earning the right to play at this stage thanks to his European Championship success in June.

Greene, of England, started the season ranked no.39. His highest achievement was a ranking tournament quarter-final slot on three occasions since 1993.

On Tuesday, Tony Drago made it to the final stages of the Grand Prix, the opening ranking tournament of the season, with a 5-2 win over Steve James.

In his Last 64 match in Preston, Drago, currently ranked no.43, faces world no.18 Barry Hawkins.
