Off-stage

I attended A Night With Lloyd Webber at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, where our national orchestra did us proud, except for the unsightly tubular iron chairs with laminated seats; surely they deserve better. Also makeshift podiums which made the stage look very shabby. A row of plants along the stage would have covered this scruffy scene.

It was a pity on the part of the organisers not to notice these details, as it would have given this grand venue the importance it merited.
