The Prime Minister said yesterday that 1,009 persons were arraigned in court between January and August this year and a total of Lm279,394 in fines was imposed.

1,958 persons were arraigned in 2003 and Lm206,764 were imposed in fines. Last year there were 1,906 arraignments and Lm293,366 were imposed in fines.

He was replying to a parliamentary question by Jason Azzopardi (PN).
