Ethelwald E. Vella is right in stating that the exaggerated number of national holidays brings into question our national unity (September 8).
Rather than uniting, they foster divisiveness. In this age of renewed national awareness, the government and the opposition should work to put behind them the political one-upmanship that each party has been guilty of in the past.
