ScreenCheck outsources IT work to Malta

Crimsonwing, a Malta-based IT solution centre, recently completed two choice R&D projects for ScreenCheck, a Dutch company specialising in the provision of smart card solutions. With subsidiaries worldwide, ScreenCheck have been at the forefront of IT card technology since the early Nineties.

From credit cards and driver's licences to membership cards and ID badges, ScreenCheck provides clients with the entire solution necessary to carry out work with speed and flexibility. Crimsonwing's Holland office successfully negotiated and signed the outsourcing contract.

The first projects entail R&D on a number of projects relating directly to ScreenCheck's core business - the provision of smart card solutions.

As an outsourcing solution centre, Crimsonwing have allowed ScreenCheck the added flexibility of a dedicated ring-fenced team in Malta without the commitment and overhead of hiring their own full-time employees.

The Crimsonwing-ScreenCheck partnership started with the pilot development of a number of small R&D projects. This approach enabled ScreenCheck to test the waters before jumping headlong into a full-blown outsourcing programme that would normally involve a substantial investment.

Crimsonwing's ability to handle both small and large projects gave ScreenCheck the opportunity to test-manage the outsourcing relationship and to learn on a small scale about the IT processes applied in the Crimsonwing set-up.

With strong skills in C++, the Crimsonwing team successfully met a number of R&D challenges and also completed a low profile investigation of a somewhat troublesome smart card. In a couple of weeks part of the R&D team had tackled the issues, coming up with a new, refined, workable solution.
