The mayors of Mqabba and Luqa have expressed their concern at the danger posed by the airshow being held this weekend.
They also complained their councils were never consulted about it.
In a joint statement they said the air space over Luqa and Mqabba was always chosen for the display. Everyone knew of the danger residents faced when aeroplanes were flown just above their rooftops as well as close to two historic churches.
The show created a lot of noise pollution and the mayors also wanted to know whether there was insurance cover in the case of accidents. They asked whether those suffering damage would be awarded compensation.
The mayors also asked for compensation due to noise pollution and air pollution created by the large number of cars flocking to their villages for the two-day event.
In a separate statement, the Santa Lucija local council aligned itself with the mayors of Mqabba and Luqa and condemned as "irresponsible" those who allowed the airshow to take place over residential areas.
The Santa Lucija local council said it believes such events should take place over the sea.
