Mercedes Benz have launched two new cars - the B-Class and the M-Class.

The B-Class is a compact sports tourer which the makers say offers a high level of spacious comfort and a new design for dynamic driving pleasure.

This family and recreational vehicle has a length of 4.27 metres, corresponding to the compact car class.

But on the inside the model offers more shoulder-room, legroom and headroom than other cars of comparable size in this segment, Mercedes claim.

The new M-Class is an off-roader "that comes with state-of-the-art technology".

"It has a swept-back windscreen, striking front wings and rising shoulder line setting a sporting tone."

Three of the four engines available for the 2005 model are new and outstrip the output and torque of the power units for the outgoing model by up to 38 per cent. Drive-system technology and aerodynamics cut fuel consumption by as much as 10 per cent.

The car also incorporates additional functions such as downhill speed regulation, start-off assist and the off-road ABS system.
