The Malta-Gozo ferries carried 899,959 passengers in the second quarter this year, a slide of 27,624 passengers, or three per cent, over the same period last year, the National Statistics Office said yesterday. The number of vehicles transported dropped by 13,225 to 220,910, a decline of 5.7 per cent.

A total of 4,472 trips were made between the two islands, a slight cut of 32 trips.

The MV Malita carried 327,030 passengers, or 36.3 per cent of the total number of passengers.

The MV Gaudos and MV Ta' Pinu ferried 304,601 and 268,328 passengers respectively.
