Man held in search near Detox Centre

The police are holding a 30-year-old man from Zabbar after seven packets of heroin were allegedly found in his possession during a search near the Detox Centre, in Guardamangia.

The Detox Centre is where addicts are helped to kick their drug-taking habit. The police said the drug squad had been monitoring several people suspected of being involved in drug trafficking. Officers from the squad decided to conduct the searches after noticing "suspicious movements".

The man being held is known to have been involved in other drug trafficking-related cases. He is due to be arraigned in the coming days.
