St Sebastian Youth Centre of Qormi will be holding a Bread Festival over the coming weekend.

An audio visual show about bread and traditions of bread-making as well as religious connotations over time will kick off the festival at Ir-Razzett l-Antik on Friday.

Activities will include visits to old bakeries on Sunday morning. It is still the custom for some Qormi residents to take their Sunday roast to be baked in such ovens.

A Maltese night will be held in front of St Sebastian's church on Sunday from 7.30 to 11 p.m., when the focus will again be on bread. There will be folk singing and dancing and the Pinto Brass Band will participate.

In case of bad weather, activities will be held at the new pastoral centre in St Edward Street, Qormi.

The audiovisual presentation will continue until September 30. Shows during the week will be between 7.30 and 10.30 p.m. and between 9.30 a.m. and noon and from 7.30 to 11 p.m. on Sunday.
