In praise of Mellieha

Allow us to say a hearty and deeply meant Thank You to Mellieha and its highly gifted people.

We were here to enjoy the festa of Vittorja this year and what a marvellous achievement it has been for the locals. We attended every free concert held on the parish square and one was improving so much on the other that we felt like saying "Do it all over again".

Both the Imperial and Victoria bands are so professional that you cannot feel but extra lucky that you have access to both in the same square. And then to know that singers and players alike are all locals - it makes you so proud that it sends shivers down your spine. Mellieha, with its able inhabitants, new parish priest and such a hard-working mayor and council cannot seem to put a foot wrong. Let us hope that more towns and villages will emulate what Mellieha is doing for visitors and locals alike.

Long may this feeling last and may Mellieha set an example for the rest of the island.

The fireworks display was absolutely excellent without being overbearing and silly. It was all done with style and decorum. We thank everybody in Mellieha who, directly or indirectly, was involved in producing such a wonderful festa.
