Science dream

I read with interest Bishop Nikol Cauchi's article on science and technology (September 3). I agree with all he says about helping children embark on science subjects.

I have been coming to Malta with my wife for 15 years and now we have bought a property here which we regard as our second home. As the overseas officer of the Institute of Science Technology, I have, together with my science friends in Malta, been endeavouring to further science and technology education here and the adoption of UK and European acceptable qualifications.

But this is only the beginning... our vision is to try to set Malta up as a centre for teaching science and technology to people from other Mediterranean countries such as Libya. Our dream is to make Malta a true centre of learning. Is this such an impossible dream?
