Villarreal's Riquelme doubtful for United match

Villarreal's Argentine playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme is doubtful for tomorrow's Champions League Group D clash at home to Manchester United after straining his ankle at the weekend.

Riquelme was forced to leave the pitch in the 25th minute of his side's 1-1 draw at home to Sevilla on Sunday after receiving a blow on his right ankle.

Villarreal's chief of medical staff Juan Alborch said it would be "very difficult" for the 27-year-old international to recover in time for tomorrow's match.

Roy Makaay has been passed fit for Bayern Munich's opening Champions League Group A game at Rapid Vienna tomorrow. The Dutch striker missed Bayern's 2-1 win over Nuremberg in the league on Saturday with a knee injury. "After seeing him in training on Sunday, I'd say it's 100 per cent that he'll play in Vienna," coach Felix Magath said.
