What inspired this proposed brief?

The government requested the Malta Environment and Planning Authority to prepare a development brief for the Fort Cambridge area. The development brief for this site is subject to a public consultation period as required by the Development Planning Act (1992).

What is the scope of the brief?

The scope of the development brief is to provide planning guidance on the future use and redevelopment of the Fort Cambridge area at Tigné, Sliema.

The brief therefore includes detailed guidance on all developable areas as well as their land uses, areas to be protected from development and building heights.

What are the aims of this brief?

The brief seeks to provide relevant background information on the site; specify the planning objectives for development and conservation; specify site constraints; specify detailed policy guidance for the development; and set out the format and content of submission requirements.
