A 17-year-old boy has accepted to seek assistance to deal with a drinking problem after he pleaded guilty to resisting arrest, damaging a police car and threatening police officers while drunk on Saturday evening.
The youngster was arraigned in court yesterday. He apologised for his behaviour and offered to pay for the damage to the car.
Magistrate Giovanni Grixti will hand down sentence on Thursday.
The court heard that the youngster had gone to his girlfriend's house drunk and started yelling outside her house. When the police arrived to calm him down, he resisted arrest and threw a couple of punches at the police car, damaging one of the doors and the boot.
The prosecution asked the court to take into account the boy's drinking problem and order him to seek help.
The youth's lawyer, Cedric Mifsud said the youngster was prepared to seek help for his problem and was willing to pay for the damage to the police car.
